The Strategies
Overview
The National Network for Safe Communities works towards taking two well-developed crime reduction strategies to national scale. The first – the group violence reduction strategy pioneered in Boston, MA, as "Operation Ceasefire" – addresses serious violence associated with gangs, drug crews, and similar groups of offenders; the second – the drug market intervention strategy first pioneered in High Point, NC and sometimes referred to as the "High Point model" – addresses the violence associated with overt drug markets.
