The National Network for Safe Communities has received breakthrough endorsements from key figures across the political spectrum to roll out its proven violence reduction strategies nationwide. Civil rights legend Ben Chavis, business magnate Russell Simmons, Tea Party co-founder Mark Meckler, and Tim Dunn, chairman of the Texas Public Policy Foundation, all expressed support for utilizing the “researched and ready-to-go strategies” to reduce both serious crime and the unintended consequences of current criminal justice practice, in particular the disastrous effects of mass incarceration on African-American communities. NATIONAL NETWORK TO LEAD NEW YORK'S ANTIVIOLENCE INITIATIVE
The National Network for Safe Communities’ Group Violence Reduction Strategy will be at the core of a comprehensive $2 million anti-violence initiative announced by New York Governor Cuomo. The initiative is part of the Governor’s larger urban agenda to aggressively support the implementation of community-based violence reduction strategies involving both the police and the community. The National Network will initially work with six communities most affected by gun violence.
